The menu at Laughing Seed Cafe is a celebration of fresh, wholesome ingredients masterfully transformed into dishes that delight the senses. Start your meal with their Crispy Brussels, where perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts are marinated in a bright ponzu sauce, then finished with a spicy sriracha aioli, toasted sesame seeds, and fresh green onions — a crunchy, tangy bite that excites the palate. For a snack or side, the Jalapeno Onion Fries offer hand-cut organic Russet potatoes fried to a golden crisp, infused with the smoky heat of jalapeños and sweetness of caramelized onions, making every bite addictive.
If you're craving something heartier, Laughing Seed’s hand-helds shine with unique twists on classic favorites. The Sweet Potato Reuben, layered with house-cured sweet potato pastrami, smoked onions, swiss cheese, and tangy house-made purple kraut, all nestled on Annie’s grilled marble rye and served with fries, perfectly balances smoky, savory, and tangy notes. Alternatively, the Tempeh Reuben offers a similarly satisfying experience with grilled tempeh as the star — showcasing how plant-based proteins can carry deep, complex flavors.
For refreshment, their lineup of raw juices and smoothies is equally invigorating. The Tropic Thunder Juice blends tropical pineapple with kale, romaine, apple, lemon, and mint for a bright, cooling sip, while the Red Cure Juice combines cucumber, beet, apple, extra ginger, and cilantro to cleanse and energize.

Great gluten free vegetarian food, as always. Good service and atmosphere. You wouldn't even know the food is vegetarian it's so freaking awesome. If you're in Asheville, you should really check this place out. And the gluten free bread is out of this world! **UPDATE August 2024** We were back in town for a show and needed to check this place out again to see how they still fared. Just as awesome as before! Our server, Brenton, was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is almost entirely vegan and has a ton of gluten free and nut free options. We opted to share the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer, the Reuben with the sweet potato "pastrami" and the Pineapple "Bacon" Tacos. For dessert they had a Mixed Berry Cacao Cheesecake that was raw.... freaking delicious! All of them were hearty portions and the flavor profiles were phenomenal.
This review is a little late. I came here a while ago while on vacay, and the food and service was phenomenal. Our server was Baxter and was very helpful! The cauliflower wings were great and so were the Southwest loaded fries. Would definitely come here again if I could. I really wish I remembered all the other things I ate.
A delightfully hidden gem. Cool Interior, amazing food, great customer service. Listen when I say, it was the best French onion soup I’d ever had. The food had such thoughtful nuance and flavoring. If I lived closer, this would absolutely be my go to spot. We wanted one of everything off the menu it all sounded so great.
Aaron was our waitress. She was not only waiting tables but also working the bar area. What i thought was a waiter neglecting us was just someone who was providing an abundant amount of service due to short staffing Thank you Aaron and I'm glad we were patient and stayed to witness your wonderful service. We ordered multiple dishes. Drinks we had the Peachy Keen, which had a fermented type taste, I liked it but my partner ended up giving his to me. And we had the Fire Flower Magarita, this was a hitter with is both. Our starters were the Southwestern Fries, with the sauce was delicioso . And one buffalo cauliflower taco, it's the perfect Buffalo sauce and my partner said it tasted better than shrimp tacos to him. Our entrees were the Supreme Pizza, the Shitake mushrooms for the "bacon" tasted well, the perfect substitute. My partner said it tasted earthy to him, but he also just started eating healthy so he don't count. I had the smash burger. You know it was good because my partner ended up eating it instead of his pizza. And I had a side salad with my burger. Our seats were next to the window so we had a good view looking at everyone pass by.
Good food that is alive(plant based)! We tried mango Lassi, Harmony bowl (salad) Smash burger Jalapeño onion fries Massaman curry Outdoors are pet friendly and the service is exceptional.
Laughing Seed has been one of my favorite places to eat in Asheville for years now. Mostly everything on the menu is vegan. The presentation is incredible and the food is the best. The hardest thing is just trying to decide what to get since everything is so delicious.
A good & nourishing meal can change the tone for your whole day. Thankfully, our meals at Laughing Seed hit the spot. We are thankful for plentiful vegan and vegetarian options, a calm atmosphere, and kind service. We will definitely be back our next time in town!
My husband and I stopped by the laughing seed and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and there is lots of spacious seating. We ordered the pynk floyd smoothie, bistro slider, Slavic plate and buffalo cauliflower tacos. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. We would definitely come back and appreciate that they have so many vegan choices.
